Spirit Day

I recently took down the cross-posted image about Spirit Day (October 20) due to learning that the images within it are being used without permission of the parents and families of the children. That, and that alone, is why the post is gone.

However, I will repost the text:

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

In the spirit of the day, you might want to take a look at this. http://www.youtube.com/itgetsbetterproject#g/f I'm lucky my parents said this to me over and over again, because when I was in school, nobody else was. I hope a lot of kids see this.
