Bruce Springsteen is having a concert today in Helsinki. I had to stand ready at my computer, refreshing every ten seconds when you first got to buy those tickets. My mum is a fan. ^^ I was in the 2008 concert and thought it was okay, nothing spectacular but it didn't make my ears bleed. I was originally supposed to go with her and her Boss friends, but she asked if I could give my ticket to a man at her work because he was such a Bruce fan. I was glad to, because as I said I am not really a Bruce fan, and I was happy to give it to someone who really appreciates it.

I am kinda amused at her enthusiasm, and how her friends (old family friends who I have friended in Facebook) all talk about the concert in facebook. ^^

BTW, I have noticed that is confusing as fuck to notice that your own mother uses more teen-speak in her texts, when you write full sentences and correct grammar. And she still isn't in facebook, though. Xb

Gah. Not a fan of text speak. I use dialect when texting informally in Norwegian, but actual written out English when I text in English. Same goes for when I text in German and Spanish (other than a few Chilean slang words). If I'm texting formally, I use proper Norwegian as well.

Your mum sounds rather adorable about the Springsteen though X D

I use normal speaking language, and those rare times i text in english I use proper grammar.

Yeah, I text how I speak if it's informal, and with actual proper grammar if it's formal or in any language other than Norwegian.

I love it when people who are a generation ahead of me or more get completely obsessed about stuff like that. My mum's like that a bit about languages, which I love because I'm like that about languages, and my dad's like that about nature and family, which is an obsession I also share. My grandmother's like that about knitting, and she's told me several times how much she loves that I've inherited her obsession, even if I didn't pick up the needles again for well over 15 years. I think people who don't get like that about anything have poorer lives than those of us who do.
